Lake Country CCS, 7-1/2" Hi-Gloss Foam Pads
 Advanced Lake Country Mfg. 7.5
inch CCS Hi-Gloss Pads for D-A and Circular Polishers.
These 7-1/2 inch Advanced Closed
Cell Structure (CCS) Hi-Gloss
Constant Pressure Pads are a step-up from our flat 6-1/2 inch CCS Polishing
Pads. These pads were specifically developed to polish the new, harder,
scratch-resistant clear coats. This includes DuPont's SupraShield™, PPG's
Optech™ and CeramiClear™ clear coats and the new nano ceramic clear coats
being used by Mercedes Benz since 2005. While these pads were specifically
designed for use on these new clear coats, these pads can also be used on
conventional clear coats and single stage paints.
These 7-1/2 inch CCS
Technology Pads can be used with orbital polishers like the Porter Cable
7424, dual-action polishers like the Flex XC3401VGR, and professional circular machine polishers.
What is CCS Technology?
The newer, harder,
scratch-resistant clear coats require longer polishing times to remove swirls,
spots and defects. The longer you polish with conventional foam pads, the less
effective they become because polish migrates below the working surface of the
pad. The pad "dries out."
| CCS Technology solves this problem using
strategic patterns of partially closed foam cells. These cells slow the rate of
polish absorption, gradually releasing polish as needed by the operator. CCS
Pockets reduce surface tension, prevent pad skipping and allow the operator to
run the pad flat on the working surface. |

Professional results, even if
you're a beginner!
|
| 7.5 inch, CCS Pads feature two, additional, design innovations. First, they continue
to incorporate the latest, Constant Pressure™ technology.
Constant pressure may not be good for people but it's great for polishing pads
where you want a uniform and constant pressure on the surface being polished.
Professionals have learned through experience to keep their machines parallel to
the surface being polished. Tilting the machine in any direction can
result in an uneven and excessive pressure being transferred to the painted
surface.
|

|
|
Blue "Constant
Pressure" foam backing
absorbs unwanted polishing motions. |
|
This new Constant Pressure technology uses a layer of
engineered, instant rebound foam between the pad and the backing plate to absorb
off-axis movements while keeping the pressure of the pad on the surface
constant. |
| These advanced pads also
feature a curved "mushroom cap" design. This curvature allows easy transitions over seams and
inclines. |

|
|
"Mushroom
cap" design
allows
easy transition over seams. |
These pads do not have a
traditional "polish pocket" because the CCS Cells regulate polish
release, reduce splatter and eliminate paint "squiggles."
Whether you're a novice or a
seasoned professional, these pads will yield consistently excellent results.

Here's a guide to help you
select the correct pad for your needs:
Note: We also
offer three, specially priced, 7.5
inch, CCS Technology, Pad Kits that cover a variety of detailing
situations.
|
| CCS Yellow
7.5" Compounding Pad -
Our most aggressive foam cutting pad. Use this pad to compound older vehicles with
a dull, chalky or neglected finish or to remove deeper swirls, spots and paint
defects.
Use this pad with caution. Compounding can
dull the surface (called compounding haze) which will require additional finish
polishing to remove.
|
 |
|
Use this Hi-Gloss Yellow
Compounding Pad with Menzerna Intensive Polish to remove swirls or paint
defects that do not come out with the white pad.
NOTE: The yellow foam used in this pad
is courser than the yellow foam used in our 6-1/2 inch, OEM-Style, 7/8 inch
thick pads. OEM-Style yellow pads use a softer foam for use on fresh paint.
The Yellow, CCS, Compounding Pads listed above are for use on fully cured
paints. All of the other colors of foam listed below are the same foams as
used in our OEM-Style Pads. Only the yellow foam is different.
|
| CCS Orange
7.5" Power Pad - When used with the proper polishing compounds,
this orange pad removes 2000 grit sanding traces, swirls and paint defects
with minimal or no surface dullness. This pad creates so little haze that
you can often go from compounding right to finishing without the
intermediate polishing steps. Where polishing is still required (often on
black and red cars), it can be accomplished in a fraction of the time it
would take with standard pads. Use this pad and polishing compound to
remove swirls, water spots, and fine scratches.
|

|
|
CCS White 7.5" Polishing Pad - The most often used
pad. This pad has a mild cutting (cleaning) action and should be used to apply
light compounds, polishes and one-step, cleaner/waxes. Use this Hi-Gloss
White, CCS Polishing Pad with with
BLACKFIRE
Gloss Enhancing Polish or Menzerna Final Polish II to maximize surface gloss.
|

|
| CCS German
7.5" Polishing Pad - This green pad is designed for
applying a final or finishing polish to remove light swirls, paint defects
and for gloss restoration. This pad is also recommended for applying
one-step, cleaner/sealants like Klasse
All-In-One and Menzerna
One-step, Acrylic Jacket. It is a high strength foam with
60 pores per sq. inch yet is softer and more forgiving than our regular
foams. It is designed to be used with an orbital polisher (like the Porter
Cable 7424) but can be used with a circular polisher if the speed is kept
around 1000 rpm.
|
|
|
CCS Black 7.5" Glazing/Finessing Pad - This pad has
no cutting or cleaning action. It should be used to apply a glaze or a finessing
polish.
Use this Hi-Gloss
Black Glazing Pad to apply
Menzerna Finishing
Touch Glaze, 3M Imperial Hand
Glaze, and Meguiar's No. 7 Show Car
Glaze. You can
also use this pad to apply Meguiar's No. 3 Machine Polish
and 3M Finesse-It II
Machine Polish.
|
|
|
CCS Red 7.5" Finishing Pad - Like the grey
pad, this red pad has no cutting or cleaning action. This new, incredibly fine,
European foam was introduced in 2004 for applying the final liquid wax or paint
sealant using an orbital polisher. While made for the OEM market and demanding enthusiast, this
easy-to-use, Hi-Gloss Red Finishing Pad glides over the surface creating
a mirror-like shine.
This is also the pad to use
for layering one wax or sealant on top of another or for building up multiple
layers of shine.
|
|
|
Note:
This Red Pad is best
used with dual-action polishers like the 7424. We do not recommend
applying waxes or sealants using a professional, circular polisher.
|
| Gold
7.5" Finishing Pad - This custom, hybrid
foam is the world's softest finishing foam. The actual foam is a German
formula but made in the USA exclusively for Lake Country Mfg. These Gold,
Concours Finishing Pads are engineered for applying the final wax or
sealant to create the absolute best shine. This gold foam is 40% softer
than the red making it the best pad for applying your finishing wax or
sealant.

|
Note:
Polishing pads can "cake-up" with residues reducing their
effectiveness. If you don't want to stop in the middle of polishing to clean
pads, plan on using 2 or 3 pads to polish the average car.
Polishing Tip:
Season
foam pads before "flat" polishing. Seasoning
refers to breaking in a pad. If you
were to apply polish to a body panel, place an Advanced,
Hi-Gloss Pad on the surface and turn the machine on, it would be
very squirrelly or difficult to control. This is due to most of
the pad being "dry". To season a pad, lightly mist it
with a pad lubricant or water, slightly raise the back of the machine so you are
working with the top 1/3 of the pad. After polishing for a
minute or two the pad will become more evenly saturated with
product and actually become softer from heat build-up. At this
point, you can safely transition from a tilted up to a flat
polishing position. Every time you put a fresh, Advanced,
Hi-Gloss Pad
on your machine you should season it for a minute or two before
"flat" polishing.
Proper
Cleaning - Wash foam pads in a bucket of
soapy water (or use Snappy
Clean Pad Cleaner), rinse thoroughly, hand
squeeze out excess water against a flat surface and allow to air dry. Do not machine wash or machine dry. Do not wring dry.
|
| Unlike our
6-1/2 inch pads, these advanced pads feature a
patented, recessed area for the backing plate. This recess
lessens the possibility of the backing plate accidentally coming into contact
with the surface being polished.
This hook and loop pocket is the same diameter as our
6 inch Flexible Backing Plates which perfectly self-centers the pad to eliminate
wobble. In addition, the hook and loop backing is attached differently. It is not glued
to the back of the pad but thermally bonded to the foam. This greatly reduces
the likelihood of delaminating (the backing coming off). |

|
|
Backing plates fit
into a
5-3/4 inch recessed pocket. |
|
Hook and Loop Back-Up Plates - All of our pads
have a VELCRO® brand fastening system that require your machine be fitted with a 6
inch, "hooked" Backing Plate. This plate may or may not have
come with your polisher. If you require a backing plate, we have 6 Inch Flexible
Backing Plates for both dual-action and circular polishers.
Different machines
require different backing plates. Dual-action polishers like the Porter
Cable 7424 and 7336 require a plate with a 5/16-24 threaded shaft. This is
our part number FBP-6.
Professional circular
polishers require a plate with a 5/8-11 receptacle. This is our part
number FBP-6C.
|
 |
|
Note:
Different machines require
different backing plates. |
|
These are both professional quality plates that provide
maximum grip and perfect centering with
any of our Advanced, 7-1/2 inch Hi-Gloss Pads.
Note:
These 7.5 inch Advanced, Hi-Gloss Constant Pressure Pads have an inside
mounting diameter of 5-3/4 inches which will
work with our FBP-6, 6 inch backing
plate for D-A polishers and FBP-6C, 6 inch backing plate for
circular polishers. The 6-1/4 inch backing plate that comes on the Porter
Cable 7428 will not work with these
pads nor will the 6-1/2 inch backing plate that comes on the Makita 9227.
Both of these plates are too large and will not
fit these 7.5 inch pads. If your machine has a Hook and Loop Backing Plate with a
diameter between 5 and 5-3/4 inches, it will work with these pads.
