If you drive your car, it is going to collect paint contamination. There is no wax or paint sealant that can fully protect against contamination from rail dust, brake dust and environmental fallout. Most paint contamination consists of tiny metallic particles from brake pad linings and rail dust created from the friction of train wheels against railroad tracks. These hot metallic particles fill the air on highways and near railroad tracks where they ultimately land on your car's finish, burning through any wax or sealant coating and embedding themselves in the top paint or clear coat layer. They can be felt as a "rough or gritty" texture on the paint's finish. Less severe paint contamination consists of overspray, tree sap mist and industrial pollution. If left untreated, this contamination can cause tiny rust spots in your car's finish.
Obviously, this could only be done a limited number of times as there was always the risk of removing too much paint.

BLACKFIRE Clay Lube makes application quick & easy.
Caution: Use only as directed and with an approved lubricant such as BLACKFIRE Clay Lubricant to reduce friction between the PolyClay and the vehicle's surface. Reciprocate or glide PolyClay along the lubricated surface until finish is smooth and contaminants are removed. When used as directed in the conventional method of polishing, contaminants can be removed from the surface without causing swirls.
See our complete BLACKFIRE PolyClay Kit on our Car Care Kits page. Note: See our Detailing Tip "Using a clay bar to remove paint contamination" for information on using clay bars.
Marc writes: This is my 1954 MG TF 1500 Roadster. Even though the car had shine, the surface of the car was like sandpaper. Reading on your website about treating and older finish with clay intrigued me. I started with (Blackfire) Poly Clay and Lubricant and and a new Porter Cable polisher which I got from you guys along with the complete line of Blackfire products. The result was staggering. Now the finish feels like glass. The color is brighter and the car has a silky smooth luster it didn't have before. Not only are your products terrific but your personalized service has been very meaningful as well. Thanks for everything.
