You probably haven't given this any thought but I'm here to tell you that the wash bucket you use to wash your vehicle is just as important as the sponge, wash mitt and shampoo you select. The reason is washing swirls. I can't tell you how many calls and emails we receive from people frustrated by the swirls they put in their car's finish every time they wash it. These swirls are not directly caused by the sponge, wash mitt or wash pad they are using but by grit (particles of sand) suspended in the wash water. Trapped between the wash mitt and the car's finish, this grit acts like sandpaper on your car's clear coat finish.
As your sponge, wash mitt, pad or wash brush is rubbed against the Grit Guard Insert, gravity causes grit and sand particles to settle to the bottom of the pail.
Size does matter!
Our Master Detailer Wash Bucket is molded from heavy duty plastic with a steel, wire handle and plastic grip.
I place the Grit Guard Insert in the Master Detailer Wash Bucket, squirt in my favorite car wash shampoo (BLACKFIRE Gloss Shampoo and Conditioner) and wash my car's wheels. Then I dump the dirty water and create a fresh batch of suds to wash the rest of my car.
Washing tips from a pro:
Our customer Rick Norman of Rick Norman Detailing goes a little further. Rick specializes in detailing high end vehicles and can't risk putting a swirl in a customer's Ferrari. Rick starts with two, 5-gallon pails. The first pail has a Grit Guard Insert in the bottom and he fills it with a little stronger shampoo for washing wheels. The second pail has TWO Grit Guard Inserts in it, one on top of the other. He uses a gentle shampoo in this pail for washing the car. Rick claims the second Grit Guard Insert reduces the grit suspended in the wash water by another 50%. If I owned a Ferrari, or even a black car, I would do the same thing.
WBGG1 is a package of one 5-gallon Wash Bucket with one Grit Guard Insert
WBGG2 is a package of two 5-gallon Wash Buckets with two Grit Guards (one in each bucket).
