A body scrub to remove
tar, wax residues and road grime.
Many of you reading this are
looking for a tar/bug/tree sap/road grime remover that really works. You
purchased a product at your local auto parts or department store and found it
didn't work worth a darn. You also want a product that works instantly. (We
Americans are increasingly impatient!) You want to spray a cleaner on the tar or
tree sap and wipe it off.
Well folks, I hate to be the
bearer of bad news but the people we put in government to protect us are making
that almost impossible. Both the Federal Government and the California Air
Safety Board have set very strict limits for the amount of active ingredients
that can be put into a cleaner. The category of ingredients that make these
cleaners work are called VOC's (Volatile Organic Compounds). The California Air
Safety Board has set a very low limit for the amount of VOC's that can be put
into a cleaner. We all want clean air, right? Unfortunately, when you
drastically reduce the level of VOC's in a cleaner, you severely limit the
product's cleaning power. So how's a person to remove tar, tree sap and bug
residues?
We have to learn a new way to
remove these stains. We have to learn to be (shudder) patient. Meguiar's Body Solvent
is the first of a new generation of cleaners that are VOC
compliant and work by soaking on the stain for 30 to 45 seconds. Meguiar's Body Solvent is
ready-to-use. You can apply it with a cloth but I find it works better if you
spray it directly on the tar or grime you are trying to remove. After spraying,
wait 30 to 45 seconds for Meguiar's Body Solvent to penetrate and break down the
contaminant. Wipe off with a dry cloth. On really tough tar and tree sap, I
spray, soak and wipe with a cloth dipped in Meguiar's Body Solvent.
Body Solvent is great on
petroleum-based stains like tar, gum, tree sap and oily road grime. Meguiar's Body Solvent
will also remove cosmoline in the engine compartment and white wax stains in
vinyl moldings. (Do not use on clear plastics.)
Remember, spray on, wait 30 to
45 seconds, wipe off.
