How To Polish Car Glass
  Remove grit, fallout &
over spray on glass.
Your car's
windshield is probably the most overlooked surface on your car. Normal
driving will coat your windshield with a variety of road oils, heated brake dust
particles, pollution and over spray. Normal glass cleaners can not remove this
type of contamination.
| Try this test:
Put your
hand in a plastic sandwich bag and lightly run your fingertips
over the windshield's surface. Chances are, it will have a
rough, gritty feel.
Glass cleaners
will not remove this grit. It requires a high speed polisher (Makita
9227, DeWalt
849) or a dual action (Porter
Cable 7424) polisher and a special glass polishing
disc to polish the glass clean and smooth.
Note:
This kit will not fit the Dual Head Cyclo Polisher.

glass for smoothness. |
If you have a machine polisher, our Glass
Polishing Kit contains everything you need to
make your car's glass "like new" clear. The kit
contains:
- 3 - Four inch, Velcro backed,
glass polishing discs.
- 1 - 3.875 inch Velcro backing
plate with a 5/8 thread for high speed polishers (Makita
9227, DeWalt
849).
- 1 - 5/8 to D.A. Adapter.
(Allows backing plate to be used on dual action polishers (Porter
Cable 7424).
- 1 - 11 oz. Autoglym Auto Glass
Polish.
- 2 - Power Scrubber Microfiber
cleaning cloths.
|
|
Application Instructions:
- Apply a Quarter size amount of polish
on a dry polishing disc.
- If using the Porter Cable polisher,
set the speed control to "4".
- If using a circular polisher, set the
speed to 1000 rpm.
- Work on 1/2 of the windshield,
polishing first in an up and down motion then in a left-to-right
motion.
- Go over the glass several times in
each direction. (Glass will polish virtually residue free.)
- Wipe off any remaining residues using
the Microfiber cloth.
- Inspect glass for clarity and
smoothness. Repeat if necessary.

Then go
left-to-right until residue free. |

After polishing, test the surface again by putting
your hand in a plastic sandwich bag and lightly running your fingertips
over the surface. It should be "smooth as glass!"
Each disc will polish
all of the glass on one vehicle. After use, rinse off the disc with
water and allow to air dry. Discs can usually be used at least one more
time before being discarded.
Note:
This system can not remove deep pits and scratches in glass. Do not use
on Lexan, Plexiglas or clear plastics.
