The only, I repeat only,
cleaning product recommended by the manufacturers of
fabric and vinyl convertible topping material!
Late December, 2002, I
received a pleasant phone call from John Capron, Vice President of the Haartz
Corporation. For those of you that don't know, the Haartz Corporation supplies
convertible topping material for virtually every convertible manufactured
throughout the world! Mr. Capron was impressed by the thoroughness of the
information we offer on our web site but wished to point out that the cleaners
and protectants we were recommending for fabric convertible top care were not
recommended by the Haartz Corporation.
Haartz has performed
exhaustive testing on almost every product in the industry used for cleaning and
protecting fabric convertible tops. The only product for cleaning fabric
convertible tops that passed all their tests and earned their endorsement is Wolfstein's
Raggtopp Cleaner.
Mr. Capron informed me that,
over time, fabric convertible tops tend to deteriorate from acidic environmental
pollution, mildew and dirt. Without regular cleaning and treatment with a
fluorocarbon protectant, cloth convertible tops can lose water repellency and
become prematurely soiled. The Haartz Corporation and Rode & Schwalenberg
Gmbh. (Germany) both recommend regular cleaning with Raggtopp Cleaner and
protecting with Raggtopp Protectant.
Raggtopp cleaner safely
removes the toughest roof soils and stains. It will not harm automotive
finishes, chrome, glass, vinyl, rubber or plastic windows.

Application
is easy.
Here's the factory recommended procedure for cleaning fabric
and vinyl convertible tops:
- Vacuum the dry top using a brush attachment to
remove loose dirt.
- Rinse the top with water.
- Spray Raggtopp cleaner evenly over entire roof
and scrub with a nylon bristle brush (RaggTopp recommends our OXO #17007
Scrub Brush) or sponge to loosen bird droppings,
tree sap, oils and soot.
- Rinse thoroughly with water until no remaining
soap foam is observed.
- Dry with a lint-free towel like the P21S
Drying Towel.
- After the top is thoroughly dry, spray with
Raggtopp Protectant
(cloth tops only) to renew water repellency.
For stubborn stains on fabric
convertible tops, here's a trick recommended by the Haartz Corporation:
- Mix a solution of no more than 1/2 cup (4 oz.)
bleach and 1/4 cup (2 oz.) Raggtopp Cleaner with one gallon of water in a
clean bucket. Soak the convertible top for approximately 20 minutes and scrub
lightly as indicated above. Rinse thoroughly. Several cleanings may be
necessary.
- Dry and treat with Raggtopp Protectant as
described above.
Note:
Raggtopp Cleaner is manufacturer recommended for cleaning both fabric and vinyl
convertible tops. Follow with Raggtopp Protectant
for fabric convertible tops and RaggTopp
Vinyl Protectant for vinyl convertible tops.
The Haartz Corporation did not have any problem with the products we were
recommending for routine convertible top washing, cleaning & polishing
plastic windows or treating rubber seals.
Customer Feedback:
"My car's top had black spots and marks where each of the supports are. I
followed the easy directions and no more stains! What an awesome product. My top
