How To Restore Dull Brown Tires
  Restore dull, brown tires.
Brake dust, road oils and
chemicals in some cleaners can turn tires a dull, brownish-gray. Car wash
shampoos are not strong enough to penetrate into the tire's pores to release
imbedded grime. Some tire cleaners exacerbate the discoloration because they
contain bleach to brighten white letters and whitewalls. Bleach can turn the
tire's outer surface gray.
|
Our best product for
deep cleaning tires and brightening white walls and white lettering is Eimann
Fabrik Tire Cleaner.
Eimann Tire Cleaner penetrates into the rubber's pores to release all
manner of deeply imbedded oils and grime and brightens white walls
without bleach.

tire with a spray of water from a garden hose. You can pat the tire dry
with a towel or let it air dry.
Once dry, many
enthusiasts like to treat their tires with a dressing to add contrast
between their car's paint and the black tires. Our industry offers two
types of dressings, water-based and oil-based.
|
|
Water-based dressings dry on the tire's surface and leave a satin or
semi-gloss finish. 303
Aerospace Protectant is a water-based dressing containing
no silicones. It leaves tires black, like new, with a satin finish.
Lexol
Vinylex is also water-based but it does contain some
silicones for gloss. Vinylex gives tires a semi-gloss finish.

Oil-based dressings like Eimann
Fabrik Ultra Black and Black
Sapphire Tire Gel produce a deeper, richer gloss and last
longer. Oil-based dressings take longer to penetrate and dry which can
cause tires to attract dirt if used on country (dirt) roads.
To keep dust and dirt
attraction to a minimum, let oil-based dressings penetrate overnight and
buff tires in the morning with a clean towel.
For best results,
always apply tire dressings to a dry tire.
